K-Sim Fishery is a state-of-the-art fishery simulator especially made for use in education and training of students and crew. With the main purpose of building knowledge, skills and attitudes promoting safety, economy and sustainability in fishery, the simulator provides training in maneuvering a fishing vessel and using gear and equipment for fish-finding and fish-catching .
MEETING THE INDUSTRY’S TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The K-Sim Fishery simulator meets the new STCW-F requirements for fishery training and the DNV’s certification standards. The system provides high-end simulation of various types of fishing vessels, and can be equipped with customized instruments and fishing gear according your exact training requirement. In addition to this, the system is flexible and can be delivered from desktop to a full mission ship’s bridge system. The choice is yours. We are proud that K-Sim Fishery has got the prestigious Safety4Sea Training award and that it provides the exact type of training the fishermen need in order to build competence and safely operating a fishing vessel in the often harsh conditions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
With K-Sim Fishery students are able to perform fishery exercises where they train on utilizing the vessel’s equipment, optimize working hours and fuel consumption. They can learn how to choose the best routes and vessel position, and carry out appropriate maneuvers to control the fishing gear to ensure quantity and quality of the catch. The system allows students to familiarize and operate different types of fishing gear, while building skills in different fishing techniques and knowledge about the different fish species behavior. Further, they will learn how to plan a fishing operation, find, catch, and safely and efficiently store the fish, whilst monitoring vessel stability during the loading process.

A COMPLETE SYSTEM TO BUILD COMPETENCE
K-Sim Fishery is designed as a fishing vessel bridge with all necessary bridge and navigation equipment for fish finding and catching, including winches for handling fishing equipment such as purse seine, trawl and long line. Both the vessel and equipment behave as in real-life due to the simulator’s advanced physical engine. Integrated with Simrad real fishery echo sounders, sonars and catch monitoring systems, K-Sim Fishery will form a complete system for the education and competence development of fishing vessel crew.

STCW Requirements for Training
DNV Certification
All K-Sim simulator systems and models within Class A, B and C are certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV) according to the current standard DNV-ST-0033 Maritime simulator systems.
Nautical Institute
All K-Sim DP (Dynamic Positioning) simulators are complaint with the Appendix E – NI DP Simulator/Equipment specification issued by Nautical Institute in the Dynamic Positioning Operator Training Scheme Accreditation Standard.
